Driving faster has no longer the score. That is believed by more drivers in Quebec, according to results of a survey done by the Société de l'assurance automobile du Quebec (SAAQ) published last September 16th. Indeed, 64% of respondents said that they respected speed limits more often and, for 41% of them, after seeing the advertisement of the SAAQ broadcasted last spring. The survey also reveals that 83% of respondents felt that travelling at a speed of 20 km / h above the limit allowed in the city increases the risk of accidents. In return, 44% of respondents admitted to exceed the speed limit in town and 55% claimed to do it on the secondary roads.
Drinking and driving, also frowned
In the same vein, a survey published last September 17th by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States, reveals that two out of three Americans agree that the authorities should install a device to prevent people who have a blood alcohol above the legal limit, to get behind the wheel. In fact, 40% of respondents would agree that such a device should be installed in their car.
